Summertime is beckoning us to come out and play outdoors!
The evolving definition of "family" has been broadened and strengthened by countless loving queer folks who are raising both awareness and healthy families. The Kinfolkz Family Reunion recognizes healthy families of varied compositions and celebrates our diverse beauty with an annual family reunion! In addition to traditional family reunion events, we also offer a bonding family drum/dance circle and spirit walks. 2009 was our inaugural year! Kinfolkz found that over 75 kindred spirits - young and older - not only appreciated last year's camp - they wanted to see it repeated! They remarked that it was refreshing to bond in nature with their tribe!
The annual site of the Kinfolkz Family Reunion Camp, Lake Chabot, is located just a short hop outside of Oakland. Miles of parkland and trails make Chabot a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Services include rental of canoes and boats (electric, paddle boats, or oars), a coffee shop, picnicking, grassy play area, horseshoe pits, hiking, bicycling, jogging, running trails, and seasonal lake tours aboard the Chabot Queen.
We visited the Anthony Chabot Kinfolkz Family Reunion (KFR) campsites yesterday and didn't want to leave! The view was ABSOLUTELY breathtaking - from atop our campsites' majestic perches, you can see beautiful Lake Chabot glistening below. And the air was woody and warm. Ahhhhh! Trust us - we are all in for a divine treat! The incredible experiences that we will share at this 2nd Annual Kinfolkz Family Reunion Camp will be luscious healthy food for our minds, bodies and souls - food that will propel us positively forward for many moons to come!
You will be enveloped in the healing, green arms of magnificent redwoods! Anthony Chabot is a divine space beckoning us to come breathe its magic deep into our lungs and exhale joyful thunderous laughter. We hope that you will join us!

Hiking, Riding and Bicycle Trails
Family members can explore miles of beautiful hiking, riding, and bicycling trails through grasslands, chaparral, and shady eucalyptus groves or along the shores of Lake Chabot. The East Bay Skyline National Trail, which traverses 31 miles of East Bay hills from Richmond to Castro Valley, runs the length of the park. Chabot is connected to Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area by a six-mile section of the Chabot-to-Garin Regional Trail.
Kinfolkz Family Reunion Drum, Chant & Dance Circles Celebrate your individual rhythm! Bring your drum and other percussion instruments or simply make a set of claves and a shaker at the camp (included in your registration fee). Evening and morning drum/chant/dance sessions will inspire us to elevate our spirits while enveloped in the dappled greens and amber hues of Nature.

Team sports like volley ball, touch football, and soccer are offered alongside traditional family reunion games like... Potato Sack Races; Three-legged Relays; and Balloon Toss!
